Here's a sneak peak at Ed Westwick's K-Swiss campaign.
Surprise, surprise -- he looks like, what else, Chuck Bass pitching K-Swiss. Typecasting strikes again. [Just Jared]

P Diddy's new frangrance, I am King, is targeted at Barack Obama supporters. "When you see Barack Obama, you see a strong, elegant black man and when people see my ad, it's almost like that's the trend," he says. Diddy sharing the spotlight with someone else? Obama really is the face of change in this country! [WSJ]

Quickies: Marc Jacobs' next fête, your runway playlist, and more

Marc Photo: Getty Images

Marc Jacobs' next holiday party theme will be "Rock and Roll Circus."
That sounds so familiar for some reason...oh, right, because the Diesel party tomorrow night has the exact same theme. Though we're sure Jacobs has something extra special up his sleeve. [The Cut]

Still humming a song you heard ushering a model down the runway during New York Fashion Week?
Yeah, we are too. Thankfully Vanity Fair has made handy little list of runway tracks from 50 New York shows for us to glean. Now put on those oversize sunglasses, hit the street, and work it like you own it. [VF

Quickies: Obama's fashion fans, remembering Paul Newman, and more

Barack Obama has fashion clearly on his side, whether through his own style or by industry support -- but is that always a good thing?
Often deemed as nothing more than than an image driven celebrity by Republicans, looking good can sometimes have its drawbacks on the campaign trail.... [DNR]

Quickies: Lagerfeld comes to America, the mysterious Margiela and more

81786177_2 Photo: Getty Images

Attention: Karl Lagerfeld is coming to America.
The uber-designer has just purchased a a six-bedroom, 1840 landmark building on an island in Lake Champlain, Vermont, which he clams is "very Emily Dickinson like" -- i.e. reclusive and a little creepy. Perfect! [WWD]

Though he rarely speaks and flitters off at the flash of a camera bulb, Martin Margiela is hardly elusive enough to escape the New York Times. Eric Wilson sinks his teeth into the controversy surrounding Margiela's rumored departure from fashion and manages to materialize the invisible man.  [NYT]

Quickies: David Gandy for Ikon, Rafael Nadal for Lanvin, Bruno does Paris, and more

Gandy Photo: Getty Images

Zirh's new fragrance, Ikon, is now available -- and super-hottie David Gandy (pictured) is the face of their campaign.
If you want to ogle this Adonis in person, and you happen to be in the NYC area, he will be making a special appearance at the 59th street Bloomingdale's on Saturday, October 4. He will meet and greet gays -- er, guests -- all afternoon. [ZIRH]

Rafael Nadal has just signed on as the new face for Lanvin's men's frangrace, Lanvin L'Homme Sport. If we've learned anything from David Beckham, it's that sexy, greased-up-body shots of hot athletes will pretty much sell anything. [WWD]

First he stunned the runways of Milan, and now Sacha Baron Cohen's Bruno is wreaking havoc in Paris. While at the Stella McCartney shows, and "with his red thong clearly visible," the commedian "sucked Tampax, clapped along to the music and generally disgruntled the front row by continually pushing aside those sitting in front of him for a better look at the models." What we would pay to see a showdown, Bruno v. Anna. [British Vogue]

Quickies: Alber Elbaz's school supplies, Margiela maybe moving out of the Maison, and more

Scooplanvinpencils Lanvin's Alber Elbaz loved the colored pencils he used to sketch his collections so much that he's putting his name on a limited edition set. It's not guarantee you'll be showing at the tents if you get your own set, but look how pretty! [WWD]

The big rumor out of Paris is that Martin Margiela is ready to move out of the Maison. He's been hinting to colleagues for the past year that he is set to retire his sewing kit, but no one can get any confirmation.  Margiela is as elusive for interviews as Palin is for press talks. [NYT]

Quickies: Coming soon from Fashion Week, Aitor Throup, Gant and Converse

Craving a sneak peek of what's to come at New York Fashion Week? Thirteen of the most anticipated menswear designers gave glimpses of what their collections will look like coming down the runway in a mere three -- yes, three -- days. [The Upgrader]

Leading the brigade of menswear designers to watch is Spanish/British visionary Aitor Throup
, whose provocative style is just as interesting as his conceptual process: releasing a single outfit every season, with the whole process becoming the product. Sounds ballsy. [The Independent]

Smell This: Gant will release a new men's fragrance next month called Gant Silver. Developed by Richard Herpin, who says his aim was to create a scent "that would strike the right balance between the crispness of the outdoors and the mysterious yet elegant nature of the Gant man." [Now Smell This]

It's hard to improve a classic, but Converse is giving it a shot. In celebration of the iconic shoe brands centennial, they're taking designs from their archive and giving them a do-over, which, for the most part, is making for some eye-catching footwear. Some are only seeing limited releases in Tokyo, so brush on your Japanese if you're dying for a pair. [Material Interest]

Quickies: Burberry, Jacobs, Phillips de Pury -- and Craigslist?

81693115 Photo: Getty Images

This fall expect a music inspired scent from Burberry called Burberry the Beat for Men. Creative Director Christopher Baily notes "art, design, fashion, music — they all feed off each other and inspire each other. So I sat with the perfumers and gave them a ton of music." We're speculating The Go Go's was on loop during said sit-down. Kids got the beat, yeah. [WWD]

Marc Jacobs, who's been candid about his addictive personality, can add another vice to his list -- himself. He has a new tattoo every week; he spends hours in the bathroom primping; he works out non-stop. He claims in a new profile in The New Yorker, that he is "a perfect being in a perfect world." And we certainly do appreciate the reminder. [Gawker

New deets on the Phillips de Pury auction of jewelry worn by hip-hop stars like 50 Cent, Missy Elliott, Notorious B.I.G. and  Diddy: Claimed as "glittering cultural artifacts woven into hip hop's colorful legacy," the auction will take place on October 1, and, yeah, we're expecting the crowd to be appropriately crunk (wouldn't you have to be to buy this stuff?). [The Cut]

Craiglist is now the place for breaking fashion news! Known far and wide as a haven for used furniture, a good internship, your next great apartment and, on occasion, a one night stand,  if this post indicates anything, it would appear that American Apparel is venturing into footwear. Shopping: The Scent of Man

Chanel
Photo: Getty Images

Feel like smelling good? (The right answer is "yes," whether or not you like to wear fragrances.) In any event, check out Perfumes The Guide by Luca Turin, a leading scholar in the field of olfactory science and his co-author and perfume collector Tina Sanchez. Don't feel like reading the whole book? Fine. Here's a short list of the best masculine scents on the market:

Chanel - Pour Monsieur (chypre)
"Reference masculine - embodies to perfection the accord of fresh bergamot, sweet labdanum, and austere oakmoss that defines the genre - a warm, relaxed, confident voice, quietly melodious and in which you can hear a smile."

Guerlain - Eau de Guerlain (citrus verbena)
"Has a coherent, fresh drydown that completely transcends the cologne genre. If you want citrus, there is simply nothing better out there."

L'Artisan Parfumeur - Timbuktu (woody smoky)
"An affecting start of vetiver, sandalwood, and incense that seems quiet until you realize that, like modern sound systems that can pipe music into every room, one sprtiz fills a house with an odd, distinctly perceptible, but almost infared shimmer of woody freshness."

Prince Charles: Beautician?; Justin Timberlake To Fron Fashion Rocks Concert; Smell This: Love and Luck; Agnyess Deyn Over Stays her Welcome; Adam Lippes Blogs Out; Calvin Klein Returns to NY

81534214 Photo: Getty Images

Making waves across the pond is Prince Charles'--yes, that Prince Charles--five piece organic skin treatment set called Highgrove, named after his estate in Gloucestershire.  It's already widely sold out across the continent, and we hope it works miracles because God knows Camilla's hurting for one. [WWD]

Annoyingly ubiquitous Justin Timberlake will headline the Conde Nast benefit, Fashion Rocks, on September 5th, which is oh-so-coincidentally the start date of NY Fashion Week.  Sounds like someone could use a little lesson in saturation. [Fashionista]

The tattoo-inspired inaugural fragrance launch from Ed Hardy by Christian Audigier was so successful he'll launch a follow up pair of men's and women's fragrances this December.  Nothing like a new scent for the holidays to cover up the desperate smell of alcohol and bitterness. [WWD]

While at first they were glad to get some well-received coverage when Agnyess Deyn fronted for one of their songs, bandmates of Five O'clock Heroes are now getting a little tired of being overshadowed by all the attention her one tune, "Who," is getting.  The model shadow does loom large indeed. [Contact Music]

As if designing clothes isn't time consuming enough. ADAM designer Adam Lippes will launch a blog on his website, shopadam.com.  I'm sure it will be great and all, but never forget where your allegiances lie, bitches...[WWD]

To commemorate the brand's 40th anniversary, Calvin Klein will stage a full-scale menswear show next February during New York Fashion Week.  Normally shown in Milan, it's about time Mr. Klein shed that hoity-toity attitude and came home.  [DNR]

Smell This: Prada Fusion Scent; Smell This, too: Kapsule by Karl Lagerfeld; YSL Art Sale; Passing Judgment: David Beckham; Pierre Hardy's Barely There Gap Shoes

81786177 Photo: Getty Images

After the continued success of Prada's women's scent Infusion d’Iris, Spanish company Puig is releasing a men's Infusion fragrance in October.  Similar to the female version, it combines Florentine iris with cedar, vetiver, olibanum and benzoin, and comes in a bottle modeled on the women’s version.  Sounds like Prada is running a little dry on originality over there...[Cosmetic News]

Karl Lagerfeld does it for the girls and boys with his new fragrance, Kapsule.  All three unisex scents will hit the States in November. Some of Lagerfeld's favorite scents? Fresh bread, vanilla, woods and spices.  Fresh bread?  Can we expect to smell like a bakery with these new scents?  Come November, we'll find out. [WWD]

For all you art-saavy men out there, it was just announced that Christie's will auction off a large portion of Yves Saint Laurent's art collection in February.  Estimated at nearly $600 million, his well stocked collection includes pieces from Picasso, Mondrian, Matisse, Goya and, of course, Warhol.  I've got my bidding paddle ready! [Fashionista]

Passing Judgment: David Beckham wore some hideous--and I mean hideous--eye wear when leaving a restaurant the other night.  Usually he's so impeccably dressed.  I'm calling for five more Armani Underwear ads to make up for this atrocity.  I'm already in touch with his people. [The Sun]

The thought of Pierre Hardy designing shoes for The Gap sent our little heads swirling with the possibilities of the vast array of footwear he would create.  Alas, the only thing we'll get out of him for fall is a pair of combat boots and a taupe desert boot.  He's such a tease, that Pierre Hardy.  [Material Interest]

After a seven year hiatus from the scent business, Wolfgang Joop announced he will release a new fragrance in the fall.  It will have notes of coriander, vetiver, sandalwood, cinnamon, and patchouli, meaning you'll smell minty fresh.  [WWD]

They're in, they're out, they're in, and now, officially, they're out.  L.A. boutique Kitson finally got their story straight and said they are dropping Victoria Beckham's men's denim line from dVd because of poor demand.  In related news, they are also dropping Lauren Conrad's line as well, but, honestly, who didn't see that coming? [The Cut]

Hedi Slimane is mulling over his fashion comeback and it could involve--wait, are you ready?--his own menswear line!  I think I just peed a little...[The Cut] via [WWD]

Thom Browne apparently ruffled some conservative feathers when he wore his signature highwater pants to a reception at the White House hosted by Laura Bush for the winners of the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Awards.  One witness said he drew "more than a few stares," especially from guardsman. It's always fun to watch the righties squirm, isn't it? [WWD]

Perma-hottie Garrett Neff is starring in Calvin Klein's new underwear campaign.  Though David Beckham he isn't, he's still just delicious. [British Vogue]

The CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Nominees were announced yesterday, and among the ten were a few menswear designers: Richard Chai; Alejandro Ingelmo; John Patrick of Organic; and Swaim and Christina Hutson of Obedient Sons.  Remember those names, boys.  [Material Interest]

Smell This: Puma Free Flowing Man; The Summer's Hottest Pants; New Girl Crush: Anne Hathaway; The New It Accessory? Sunglasses; David Beckham's Sesame Street Debut; Slash To Make A Fashion Video Game

81865819 Photo: Getty Images

Puma has launched a men's and women's fragrance as a follow up to their 2003 Puma Flowing duo.  This season's smells have been dubbed "Free Flowing Man" and "Free Flowing Woman."  The men's fragrance is described as "a spicy citrus woods" and the women's fragrance simply makes me uncomfortable because of it's menstrual name.  [Now Smell This]

The summer's most stylish pants?  High waters and cut-offs.  So raid your closet and work that hem! [NYT]

While we sort of thought she was cute in The Princess Diaries, then applauded her for showing off her girls in Brokeback Mountain (but secretly despised her for getting to kiss Jake Gyllenhaal), and then fell head-over-heels for The Devil Wears Prada, Anne Hathaway has now become our new girl crush.  She ditched her loser man and is looking more fabulous than ever.  [The Cut]

Forget the bags for the women and the watches for men: designer shades are the new "it" accessory.  Glad to hear my face isn't being shielded by my over sized Guccis for nothing...[NYT]

For all you daddies out there (legitimate and otherwise) David Beckham filmed a cameo for Sesame Street in which he almost "comes to blows" with Oscar the Grouch.  It's always nice to find a program that kids and parents can agree on, because Mr. Becks can come to blows with me any day...[Mirror]

Vivienne Westwood's Gypsy Models; Justin Timberlake for Givenchy; Joshn Harnett in Armani Diamonds; New BFFs: Anna Wintour and Gerard Butler; Michael Jackson's Clothing Line?; Beguiling Buttons; Milan Trend Alert: Torso Tattoos; Milan in Review;

A member of the Milan council is lashing out against Vivienne Westwood's use of Roma gypsies in her most recent fashion show, saying she is adhering to a "romantic"   image of the Roma that "no longer corresponds to reality."  Romantic?  Last time I was in Rome my cellphone was snatched off a table by one of these gypsie folk, so I say put them on the catwalks and keep them off the streets! [Telegraph UK]

Perhaps one of the most anticipated campaigns in the fragrance world, Justin Timberlake's shots for Givenchy are getting out there.  Gosh, he's just done so well getting that pensive model look down that says "I'm better than you."  [Just Jared]

In other fragrance campaign news, now that JT is flaunting Givenchy, Josh Harnett has now been completely forgotten in the Armani Diamonds for Men ad.  Shafted again. [Now Smell This]

With Roger Federer hammering his way through Wimbledon right now, Anna Wintour has been seen gallivanting throughout Milan with 300 hottie Gerard Butler.  She claims it's to attend a Men's Vogue event in honor of Butler and also to scout a location for a Vogue photo exhibit, but, even the nastiest of succubus need to get some.  Go on and getcha some! [Fashionologie]

Rumors have been flying, and now they are substantiated that Michael Jackson is working on a unisex clothing line (collective "oh no..." please).  Working with Christian Audigier, the designer said “It’s the merging of the King of Pop with the king of fashion. Something explosive is going to happen.” Yeah, something explosive like diarrhea. [The Cut] via [Off the Rack]

It's not too often that men consider the "stance" of their shirt buttons, but Jerry Seinfeld didn't mention "the second button" in the final episode of the series for nothing.  As he said, “it literally makes or breaks the shirt.” [NY Times]

One of the biggest trends coming from Milan during the men's fashion shows? Torso tattoos. Yes, it turns out designers like Vivienne Westwood, Etro and Giorgio Armani are inking the tightly toned and tan bellies of their runway models.  Ugh, back to the gym. [The Cut]

Masculinity was the name of the game for most of Milan's designer fashions, and, as the shows have wrapped up, the reviews are now pouring in.  Take notes, boys.  Here comes Paris. [NY Times]

Josh Harnett Takes a Snap For Armani; Marc Jacobs Ditches the Bitches; Spring 2009 Ready-to-Wear Hits the Runways in Milan; Smell This: Prada Infusion d'Homme; Smell This, Too: Gucci Pour Homme; The Givenchy Man Hits the Streets

79959844 Photo: Getty Images

Fulfilling reports last month, Josh Harnett can now be seen in the new fragrance campaign for Emporio Armani's Diamonds for Men.  Meant to look like Harnett's being hounded by paparazzi, it comes off as wishful thinking because, really, who's following him around these days? [WWD]

Not only did Marc Jacobs drop the female gliterrati from his ad campaigns, but it looks like he is doing away with female models all together!  For his Fall/Winter 08 collection he shot mens and womenswear on it-boy model Cole Mohr.  With legs like his he should have been the one dangling them from a bag.  Sorry, Posh.  [Models.com]

Men's Spring 2009 ready-to-wear kicks off today in Milan, bringing next year's warm weather trends just as I'm getting ready to beef up my wardrobe with all the looks I saw for fall.  I'll try not to get ahead of myself and stay in season, but Neil Barrett's collection is already pretty inspiring. [Men.Style.Com]

Slated to preview this week during the men's ready-to-wear shows in Milan is Prada's new men's fragrance, Infusion d'Homme.  It hit's counters in September...[WWD]

...And Gucci will be ready with a rebuff. Frida Giannini had crafter her own scent for men that will also go public in September, and, with sales expected to reach $180 to 200 million, Prada better be ready for a throwdown. [WWD]

Creative Director Ricardo Tisci did wonders for womenswear at Givenchy, and now he is taking his eye for detail to his men's looks. “My concept is to design styles for real men. Elegant, sharp, masculine clothes with a twinge of Latino street boy confidence."  Que bueno. [DNR]

Smell This: Lalique White; Lab Series for The Sensitive Guy; Not So 'Bespoke' Anymore; Pete Wentz's Shameless Self-Promotion; Steven Alan has Arrived (and early!); New Denim to Snatch Up; Pitti Uomo Gets Underway

81609885 Photo: Getty Images

Though known mostly for their spiffy French crystal, Lalique hasn't done too shabby with their fragrance portfolio, which they're hoping to punch up with the launch of their new men's scent, Lalique White, this fall.  At least the bottle looks cool. [Cosmetic News]

Lab Series Skincare for Men, a brand who can nary do wrong, begins the expansion of their line of sensitive skin products with the release of their Mild Foaming Face Wash.  Set to debut this summer, the wash will retail at $16 a bottle--well worth it for those of us who aren't so keen to "feel the burn" when we wash our faces every morning. [WWD]

Seems those saucy Savile Row tailors from across the pond have got their knickers in a bunch.  Ever dedicated to the term "bespoke" and their ability to craft a perfect suit entirely by hand and without a pre-existing pattern, they are gnashing their teeth now that the term is being allowed to describe suits that take a few shortcuts in the manufacturing process. [The Cut] via [Telegraph UK]

To help get hype up for the fourth annual Fashion Focus in Chicago (the city's answer to New York Fashion Week), Pete Wentz is lending his name and his label to the week's designer lineup. I could make some snarky joke about another celebrity starting their own fashion line, but even that is getting so tired. [WWD]

New Yorkers, mount up.  Steven Alan's Urban Outfitters line has already hit the floor at the Noho store, even though it wasn't set to debut until July 4th! Stop reading and go! [Racked]

Tom Ford: "Show me some penis!"; The Banana Republic Fragrance Gets an Upgrade; Rogues Gallery Online; New Menswear Line: Conference of Birds; Summer Sunglasses

81375964
Photo: Getty Images

After having penned a recent essay in British GQ about the double-standard against men and nude fashion photography, Tom Ford felt dicked over when the magazine covered the models' members in the accompanying spread he styled with text blocks.  First he designs amazing clothes, then he works hard to show us the goods.  Could he be any dreamier?  [The Cut]

It may not be designer; It may not cost $60 a bottle; and it may just be a little too simple--but the unisex Banana Republic classic fragrance is heavenly, but, with hopes of perfecting perfection, BR will release Classic Limited Edition in limited numbers in stores and online come August.  The improved fragrance promises "more texture and depth as you go from eau de toilette to eau de parfum."  [Style Dash]

Whereas it was sort of fun to get out there and snoop around for coveted pieces from Rogues Gallery, now that most of their collection is available online I find it much more conducive to my lifestyle to just order their amazing polo shirts from my couch.  [Material Interest]

It was hard enough to deal with the influx of American bands with pretentious and often-times erroneous names (Band of Horses, Vampire Weekend, etc.), but now we have to deal with the same trend in American fashion lines.  I blame it on the hipsters.  Nevertheless, newly launched menswear line Conference of Birds (what?) looks to be worth keeping your eye on with pieces described as "a chic sartorial bricolage joining the hard-edged quality of American workwear with the polish of British tailoring...garments also recall rugged hunting pieces as much as they do trim cosmopolitan uniforms." A hipster probably wrote that. [Refinery29]

Smell This: Dolce & Gabbana The One For Men

Theonedgbottle

Photos: Courtesy of Dolce & Gabbana

Summer scents generally have a similar theme. They are clean, bright, grassy and, at times, a little soapy smelling. In other words, the "so fresh, and so clean" smell wasn't incredibly sexy but worked well to cover up any malodorous moments on a particularly hot day. That is, until Dolce & Gabbana unleashed The One for Men, a down, dirty and extremely sexy scent.

The One is a spicy, oriental fragrance with a blend of musk, woody, citrus and floral notes—shaking up notes of tobacco, grapefruit, basil, cardamom, cedar, orange blossom and  coriander. It's masculine without being stuffy, sexy without being slutty and bright without being girly. The One smells like a hot, young, Italian man in a perfectly tailored and pressed suit after a day at the office on a warm spring day. He's clean, but not too clean. Just the right amount of dirty so you know he's a man and a champ in the sack.

While the one is a spicy, oriental fragrance, it's quite versatile. It's certainly a day-or-night scent for all-seasons. It's not overbearing or too warm for spring and not too light or clean for winter.

The One is definitely on top of our list.

Sniff This: Guerlain Homme; Sonia Rykiel Bows Out of Menswear; Alessandro Dell'Acqua takes over Malo; Juicy Couture Rebrand's Men's Line

80835716

Look out for another men's fragrance to hit the shelves come August.  Guerlain Homme, the third scent from the label, promises a "mojito accord with lime and mint." Olé! [Cosmetic News]

Due to lackluster sales outside of France, Sonia Rykiel has given the axe to its menswear line, Rykiel Homme.  The label will show it's final spring/summer collection in Paris next month. I would be sad, but I'm just so over velvet suits. [British Vogue]

Malo recently named its new Creative Director, and it's a doozie--Alessandro Dell'Acqua.  He replaces 6267 duo Tommaso Aquilano and Roberto Rimondi, who went to Ferré last month, and you bet all eyes will be on the next Malo collection to see how Dell'Acqua punches up the brand.  [WWD]

It's been five years since Juicy Couture launched their men's line, and now they're finally getting around to giving it it's own name: Dirty English.  If that's all they could come up with after five years, I would have been more than happy waiting longer for something a little more demure. [DNR]

At last, it is upon us.  Sex and the City premiered at Radio City Music Hall last night.  The fab four looked divine. [The Cut]

Next month, Dries Van Noten is set to receive the prestigious CFDA's International Designer of the Year Award.  If you don't know why, please catch up.  "Unconventional classicism" tends to be his theme, and everything from suiting to shoes reminds you of what good clothing should be, but with a little edge to keep it interesting.  But who is the man behind the label? [The Cut]

Kenzo will launch a new men's fragrance come August, appropriately titled Kenzo Power! OK--I added the exclamation point, but I find it appropriate, no? Kenzo Power! [Now Smell This]

Woe the countless hours spent dreaming over McSteamy.  At least now you can sort of wear a piece of him on your wrist.  Eric Dane (seriously, how hot is his name?), along with Mary J. Blige and Russell Simmons have each designed limited edition Ernst Benz watches for Chrysalis, the nonprofit association that helps men and women transition from poverty.  Renderings will be unveiled on May 31st and a few of the time pieces will go on eBay in June.  Indulge a fantasy and help the needy? Score! [WWD]

J. Lo's Desire for you; The Australian Denim boom continues; John Galliano Coming to America; Don't F*ck with Loro Piana

80077059 Photo: Getty Images

Ever wondered what desire smells like?  Well, J. Lo is going to enlighten you.  Coming this fall is her first men's fragrance called Deseo, Spanish for--you guessed it--desire.  Quq marvillosa. [WWD]

First Kanye teams up with cult Australian denim brand Ksubi, and now yet another denim line from down under is set to make waves stateside.  Oy! This fall expect to see a big roll-out from the premium label Denim & Thread, a paired down, yet chic-as-ever collection that emphasizes the simple classic jean. [Material Interest]

John Galliano will make a quick sweep across the pond this week to, first, unveil his Dior cruise collection and then accept an award from the Savannah College of Art & Design.  But, don't expect that to be the last you'll see of him stateside; with all his talk of American inspiration and adventure, the mustachioed one is sure to come back for more. [WWD]

We've all tried to pass off a fake as real at some point in our fledgling fashion lives, but don't expect Loro Piana to let you get away with it so easily.  Clearly obsessed with authenticity, the famed luxury brand will now sew metal rings into their garments, each with an engraved serial number for tracking and verification.  Sounds like LP's got its own Big Brother.[Fashionista] -- SETH PLATTNER

Nina Garcia's New Gig; D&G's New Fragrance; Flower Power for Men; Perez Hilton for Hot Topic; Valentino Premiere's at Cannes

Though she was recently seen exiting Hearst Tower leading many to speculate Nina Garcia was in talks to take a position at Harper's Bazaar, sources now say Garcia is all but hired in a major position at Marie Claire with the rumored ousting of fashion director, Tracey Taylor. [Fashion Week Daily]

Having known for months that Matthew McConaughey would be the face of the Dolce & Gabanna's new fragrance, The One for Men, we've been eager to know what was in store for our good ol' olfactory sense.  Well, the new scent has been revealed and it smells exactly how you would think McConaughey would—but then again, McConaughey's own eau du B.O. doesn't have a great reputation. [Now Smell This]

We've been wanting to don a huge blooming flower on our shoulder ever since season 2 of Sex and the City when Carrie Bradshaw so brazenly floralized every outfit she owned.  Our gut told us it wasn't quite the time for such a move, but, praise be to Prada, GQ (albeit the British version) gives us the green light. [The Cut]

Hot on the tail of Karl Lagerfeld and his fashion documentary Lagerfeld Confidential, Valentino Garavani is set to premiere his own in depth feature at the Cannes Film Festival entitled Valentino: The Last Emperor.  Though it sounds promising, there is one thing Lagerfeld will always have over Valentino--the bulge. Shoes Make The Man; Vuitton Does Urban Warfare; Leather Jacket Mania!; Perfume Wards of Evil Doers; Armani's Super Lux Luggage; Counterfeit Bust; Naomi in More Trouble; Project Runway Wins Award

There are many qualities of a leader—and being a sneaker connoisseur turns out to be one of them. A study found that people who bought more three or more pairs of sneakers a year were more likely to have leadership qualities than the less-sneaker-oriented folks. I wonder what researchers have to say about men who wear high heels? [Yahoo/Reuters]

Naomi Campbell was released on bail after being held on suspicion for assaulting a police officer. Reports say she got in a tiff over lost luggage. [Reuters]

Louis Vuitton unveiled its Monogramouflage print designed by Takashi Murakami and Marc Jacobs. Just in case you need to engage in some urban warfare with an Upper East Sider at Saks Fifth Avenue. [Fashionista]

The NY Times channels a little Rebel Without a Cause in its obsession with leather jackets. [NY Times]

What should you do with that crappy smelling celebrity cologne your mother gave you for your birthday? Use it as mace to ward off burglars and muggers! Apparently, Elizabeth Arden Red Door perfume is highly effective. [UPI]

Giorgio Armani launched a line of super-lux luggage for men and women in patent crocodile skin. I wouldn't recommend checking that when flying with Delta. [WWD]

Police raided a warehouse in Queens and seized $5.5 million worth of counterfeit bags just hours before Louis Vuitton's Brooklyn bash to call attention to the evils of counterfeiting. Coincidence? Or brilliant marketing? Hmmm... [WWD]

Project Runway wins the Peabody Award, which are meant to honor excellence in entertainment and news broadcasting. Other winners include a documentary on wounded war veterans. Runway is the first reality show to win the prestigious award. An Emmy and a Peabody? Fierce! [The Cut]

The Sniff Test: Nicole Farhi Bleu Intense

Nicolefarhicologne

Following up on her first homerun scent for men that is in permanent rotation in my cologne collection, Nicole Farhi's latest fragrance foray, Bleu Intense, is an ode to the fragrant Mediterranean Sea that captures the essence of spring's light, clean and floral essence. The eau de toilette mixes floral notes with warm musk and spice. It contains top notes of mandarin, green galbanum and sage, middle notes of violet, lavender, tea tree, birch leaf and willow, and base notes of wood accords, crystalline amber, vanilla and musk.

To get the bottom of this fragrance, your Stylelist went straight to the top and made Out staffers take a big whiff. Here's what they had to say about Nicole Farhi's Bleu Intense:

Matt"It's a little too powdery, so I wouldn't wear it. It's just not my taste. I like more spice and musk in my colognes. I could imagine Richie Rich wearing something like this, or those guys who wear those really deep v-neck shirts and buy women's jeans for the fit." —Matthew Breen, Executive Editor

Seth_2"I like it and I would wear it. It smells very clean and floral. I can definitely smell the lavender notes. It's a soft fragrance and perfect for the modern day man! I would love to see a super masculine guy wear this. It would offset that masculinity a bit. It's certainly a fragrance for someone who is very confident."

—Seth Howard, Senior Market Editor

Joe "It's a nice bottle. It smells feminine but clean...like a very nice powder. I don't think I would wear it. I could imagine an old lady wearing this, or a fussy older gentleman. Seems like something a woman would buy for her boyfriend or husband and then wear it herself. But I would have no problem making out with a guy wearing this."

—Joe Mejía, Managing Editor

Brent "I wouldn't wear it. It's too girly and too pretty for me. It has some floral and musky notes in there. But I prefer something a little more spicy and citrusy."

—Brent Coover, Editorial and Fashion Assistant

Josh "It's smells young, fresh and very spring-like. It reminds me of my favorite babysitter, Becky. When I was with Becky, I felt alive! I just have to spray myself with this fragrance and I immediately feel more alive than I've felt since I was seven."

—Josh Tager, Senior Digital Editor

Nickcropjpg "I love it! I love fragrances that walk the line between masculine and feminine. This one draws you in with a fresh powdery smell of amber that is perfect for spring, then seduces you with some warm musky notes that come alive on the skin. I'm not butch enough to pull off some wildly masculine fragrance, so this is a perfect warm weather fragrance for me."

Smell This: Secretions Magnifiques

Secretions Magnifique Bottle

What does sex smell like?  Etat Libre d'Orange, a high-end perfumery that also bottled a Tom of Finland fragrance, might be the first company to bottle the scent.

Secretions Magnifiques blends fragrance notes of blood, sweat, spit and sperm—with a dash of coconut and sandalwood for good measure. I imagine that's what an S&M club smells like.

I'm trying to get my hands on the fragrance and will give you a full review soon! But if you can't wait for the review, visit Henri Bendel to get your hands on a bottle of your own.

Mugler's Coffee Buzz; American Apparel Goes Vintage; Smell like Berry; Chalayan and Puma Love Affair

Thierry Mugler's limited edition fragrance, Angel Men Pure Coffee receives a glowing and over-the-top gushing review from The New York Times proving the theory that a good journalist thrives on stress, deadlines and a steady supply of coffee. Do you like your coffee like you like your men? [NYT]

Is American Apparel planning to open vintage stores? What will they sell? Previously worn American Apparel clothing? Nothing says great style like sporting someone else's pit stains. [Fashionista]

Hussein Chalayan named creative director at Puma. And Puma has acquired a majority stake in Chalayan's business. This will be fabulous! [FWD]

Smell This: Bond No. 9's Andy Warhol Union Square

A changing of the seasons means it's time to shake up your fragrance. As the flowers bloom, your bold, musky winter fragrance should give way to something lighter, fresher and cleaner that captures the spirit of season.

Renowned New York City Perfumer, Bond No. 9 is known for capturing the scents of Manhattan—think flower district-inspired floral notes, sweet Magnolia cupcakes. For their latest collection, Bond No. 9 dug into the Manhattan's pop-art past and sought inspiration in Andy Warhol. In collaboration with The  Warhol Foundation, Bond No. 9 debuts it's second Warhol fragrance, Union Square, in March.

Andy Warhol once said,  "Another way to take up more space is with perfume.  I really love wearing perfume." And the love of New York City shared by Warhol and Bond No. 9 makes the collaboration a match made in Manhattan. After all, Warhol did set up shop and found The Factory in Union Square, so it is only fitting that the fragrance pay homage to Warhol's former stomping ground.

The scent, an "ambi-sexual" floral fragrance, blends sweet and cool through blending floral notes like lily of the valley and blue freesia with  animal musk and golden amber for a touch of warmth and sensuality. Suitable for a man or woman, the scent truly comes alive on the skin. The flacon is equally stunning and features Warhol's vibrant flower screen prints that will look tres chic in your dopp kit and on your counter display.

Smell This: Tom Ford's New Fragrance (That Doesn't Smell Like Sweaty Balls)

Tomfordforoutuseonly Photos: Courtesy of Tom Ford (for use on Out.com only)

Tom Ford is orchestrating a hostile takeover of the fragrance industry, one spritz at a time.

This week, he launched his newest fragrance Tom Ford for Men—yes, the one with the controversial ads depicting the bottle wedged between a dewy woman's thighs and barely covering her Brazilian bikini wax. This is only the first of many fragrances he plans to release in the coming months—including the limited edition Tom Ford Extreme due out next month.

While the ads have caught worldwide media attention, what about the fragrance itself? Based on the ads, one might think it smells like the sweaty thighs, breasts or the naughty bits of a woman, which wouldn't be hard to believe coming from Ford who once compared one of his fragrances to the sweat on a man's balls.

This is the man who told New York Magazine, "I don’t wear deodorant. I don’t! I actually love the way that human beings smell. And I love the way my dog’s ears smell. My smell is a little sweat, a little dog. I think a lot of us have gotten so weird about it, especially Americans. Americans love to, like, wash away all trace of human smell. I like human smell. It’s what makes us attracted to each other. I mean, I’m not attracted to some laundry that I take out after I’ve put Febreze in it. I don’t like clean. I don’t like the smell of soap.”

Should this man be trusted to make a sexy fragrance?

Smell This: Gucci Pour Homme II

Guccipourhommeii
Your sense of smell is a powerful force. And in the sweltering heat of summer—amid the potpurri of sweat and sunscreen—it can be a blessing and a curse. So, do your part to make the world a sweeter smelling place and douse yourself with Gucci's latest fragrance for men—Gucci Pour Homme II. Does it get any sexier than Gucci? It's not exactly the "smell of sweat on a man's balls," but you won't be disappointed.

Not only is Pour Homme II a sophisticated and sensual cologne that will make everyone want to stand a little closer to you, but its formulation walks the line between manly musk and shower fresh so it appeals to men of all ages. If you prefer a signature scent that you can wear year-round, Gucci II is light enough for summer and warm enough to last well into the colder months. Do you know someone who constantly marinates in their cologne? Luckily, it's tough to overdo this one because it quickly dissipates into a subtle scent—but that also means you might want to reapply before heading to an afterwork happy hour.

Gucci Pour Homme II features a blend of citrusy bergamot and soothing lavender on top, spicy pimento, black tea and warm cinnamon at the heart and olive wood, manly musky notes, tobacco leaves and smokey myrrh rounding out the bottom. It might sound like an oddly odiferous cocktail, but it interacts beautifully with your body's chemistry. So, don't trust the scent strip at the fragrance counter. Spray it on your skin and inhale. Summer smells better already.

Eau de Toilette,  $50-$65, at Saks Fifth Avenue stores.

For that special just-got-laid smell...

Tomfordprivateblend
Best name for a scent since Cumming. Photo: Getty Images.

Sometimes it's easy to overlook the most important part of a long profile, especially when it's approximately the 184th such piece about Tom Ford to be published in as many hours.

Buried deep within the lengthy New York magazine article -- from which certain details about Ford's relative measurements were apparently excised before going to print -- is this offhanded statement about his new store's "perfumery of Estée Lauder–produced scents."

Ford has said that they are supposed to smell like the sweat of a man's balls. A woman wants a man to smell like a man, he thinks.

Sorry for, um, missing the ball our last time around.

Usher's New Odor

Hard truth on Friday morning: there isn't a single celebrity you used to respect who hasn't entered the game of celebribranding. The latest entrants to the slap-your-name-on-it race:

Usher- cologne

Ellen - greeting cards

Scarlett Johansson - athletic gear

Fiddy - condoms

Fergie - handbags

Imelda Marcos - jewelry made of "recycled junk"

The most unlikely celebribrand, however, remains CARLOS by Carlos Santana women's shoes
