Quickies: Coming soon from Fashion Week, Aitor Throup, Gant and Converse

Craving a sneak peek of what's to come at New York Fashion Week? Thirteen of the most anticipated menswear designers gave glimpses of what their collections will look like coming down the runway in a mere three -- yes, three -- days. [The Upgrader]

Leading the brigade of menswear designers to watch is Spanish/British visionary Aitor Throup
, whose provocative style is just as interesting as his conceptual process: releasing a single outfit every season, with the whole process becoming the product. Sounds ballsy. [The Independent]

Smell This: Gant will release a new men's fragrance next month called Gant Silver. Developed by Richard Herpin, who says his aim was to create a scent "that would strike the right balance between the crispness of the outdoors and the mysterious yet elegant nature of the Gant man." [Now Smell This]

It's hard to improve a classic, but Converse is giving it a shot. In celebration of the iconic shoe brands centennial, they're taking designs from their archive and giving them a do-over, which, for the most part, is making for some eye-catching footwear. Some are only seeing limited releases in Tokyo, so brush on your Japanese if you're dying for a pair. [Material Interest]

GANT and the Satorialist take to the streets of New York for a new collaboration

GANT and Scott Schuman AKA The Sartorialist have teamed up for a new project documenting 10 style-savvy New Yorkers dressed in a combination of their own wardrobes and pieces from the classic American brand. A new micro site featuring the fashionable fruit of the partnership's labor has just been launched and it showcases Schuman's shots coupled with a brief interview with each of the freshly plucked-from-the street models.

Some of our favorites? Luke, lost deep in thought in Prospect Park, Brooklyn, wearing a cozy gray cardigan and black Wellies and revealing his ambition to become "an ambassador to some international commission to stop global tomfoolery." Hot and political? Sign us up.

We're also big fans of Brian, who toils as the General Manager of the John Varvatos store at 315 Bowery (in case your stalker tendencies are just as healthy as ours). His tweed-y sweater tucked under a suit coat and paired with motorcycle boots is comfortable, casual, and deftly toes the line between preppy and edgy.

Douglas Geller, Director of Marketing & Public Relations for GANT, tells us there will be a gallery exhibition of the collection in New York this fall, as well as an auction of signed portraits. Finally, in the day and age of reality-based everything, what would any artistic undertaking be without behind-the-scenes footage? GANT and Schuman dare not disappoint and offer up this mini-documentary on the making of 10 New Yorkers:

In an attempt to compete with Thom Browne's line for Brooks Brothers, Gant will offer a high-end line of prep-chic clothes designed by Richard Bengtsson, a founder of the menswear label Richard Edwards, early next year. [NY Times]

Kate Moss to develop her own fragrance. What does a waifish model smell like anyway? Steamed veggies, brown rice, cigarettes and a whiff of a cocaine scandal. [WWD]

Louis Vuitton won't lend clothes to Lindsay Lohan after she left an Elle photo shoot with her bag full of expensive clothes that were on loan. At least she didn't let her dog poop on them. [Page Six]

Oscar de la Renta will not show his Spring 2008 collection at NYC Fashion Week next month. Instead, his collection will debut at a former Christian Science church instead. [Style Crunch]
