Daniel Radcliffe giddyups -- and gets naked -- for Vogue

Harper's Bazaar isn't the only magazine making wishes come true this fall. The September issue of Vogue offers a shot of a very naked Daniel Radcliffe atop a stallion for an article on his Broadway debut in the play Equus.

While appreciating the flesh-full grandeur and grace of the Radcliffe and stud pairing, we couldn't help but notice that the shot -- caught by renowned photographer Annie Leibovitz -- bares (pun intended) a striking resemblance to our own Equus-inspired spread in the June/July 2007 issue of Out.

Perhaps Leibovitz and Radcliffe are loyal Out subscribers and were so inspired by the collaboration between model Chad White and photographer Francois Rousseau (who recently teamed up again for the Icarus fashion story in our September issue) that they decided to make their Vogue shoot an ode to us?

Regardless, we always like to see that we're the first out of the gate, and we'll continue to consider imitation the sincerest form of flattery.

Glamazons return! (It's beginning to look a lot like the '90s!)

The New York Post's user guide to fall fashion magazines misses one important trend: the welcome return of the supermodel. Vanity Fair's Style Issue chats with the ladies, who like it or not, made many of us the fashion junkies we are:

"It was lightning in a bottle," says Paul Wilmot, who was head of public relations at Calvin Klein in the late 1980's, when the supermodel phenomenon took flight. "Suddenly you had five or six incredibly glamorous and beautiful girls, and they all looked different. And they all were known by their first names. And they all palled around. That has never happened before. It was almost the female equivalent of Sinatra's Rat Pack."

VF is hoarding the full text, but you can see the photos here or flip through their virtual scrapbook of past Super Spreads.

Look no further than September's Vogue to find the Supers in a succession of ads: YSL, Prada and Chanel, starring Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista and Claudia Schiffer. Turn another page for Kate Moss cocooned in Donna Karan's claret wool bouclé, then Stella Tennant posed in gold lamé Marc Jacobs and then, a few pages later, Tennant again, this time jeweled and glossy for Vera Wang.

On the way from Kate to Stella, don't miss a visit from "'90s icon Alex Lindquist for Brooks Brothers (in other photos from this spread, not in Vogue, he shares the bench with "80s Bruce Weber muse and model Jeff Aquilon). At 300 or so pages in there's also a double page spread of Christie Turlington in Escada, and then Schiffer again, paired with the sensational ballet dancer Robert Bollé for Salvatore Ferragamo...

The glamazons return -- and we haven't even hit the editorial yet. In the meantime, enjoy this clip shot by fashion photographer Peter Lindbergh, which captures the creative zeitgeist of the girls' silent screen aura:

I don't want to act, I want to direct! Giorgio Armani is holding a competition to find the next great advertising director to film the next Emporio Armani Parfums commercial. He's inviting aspiring directors to create a commercial for his line of fragrances and submit them online. Submit your film by May 15th! The winner will be chosen by Mr. Armani himself. At least it won't be televised as a reality show. [British Vogue]

Are 50s Rockabilly fashions back in style in London? I thought the swing dancing and poodle skirts made their comeback about ten years ago. I guess we'll start seeing the greaser look stateside in about six months. [Independent via The Cut]

Calvin Klein is heading East...to the Middle East, that is.. to showcase collections and debut a new beauty line in Dubai. Since the U.S. economy sucks, why not hit up the oil-rich Emirates for some cold hard cash? [FWD]

Bahama-dwelling model/interior designer/author India Hicks will replace Todd Oldham (pictured) on Bravo's Top Design as a judge, but the cherubic homo will stay with the show and continue his role as the gay nurturing mentor a la Tim Gunn. [FWD]

Pilati Stays at YSL; Tom Ford Doesn't Love France; Dior's New President; Oscar's Scandal Drags On; Becks to Design for Spice Girls?

Stefano Pilati will stay at Yves Saint Laurent for a few more years after signing his life away to the Gucci Group in a multi-year contract. Do you think they made him sign the contract in blood? [Fashion Week Daily]

Tom Ford throws down the gauntlet in the London Vs. Paris fashion debate. "In terms of French culture, if you think about what the French are producing in terms of fashion or architects or painters or musicians, they are quite far behind what the British are producing," he told the Independent. "When you think of Paris you think of Karl Lagerfeld who is not French. And you think of Marc Jacobs who's not French and Stefano Pilati who's Italian." He's got a point. Maybe we'll see a war of the fashion houses! Burberry vs. Dior in a well-dressed smackdown. [Jezebel]

Dior names a new president. Like you knew the name of the previous president. [Fashion Week Daily]

Oscar de la Hoya admits to knowing the woman who is selling the "fake" drag photos to the tabloid media and aims to put the legal hurt on her. But the plot thickens. Radar dresses up as Nancy Drew and investigates! [Radar]

David Beckham is designing the stage costumes for the Spice Girls Reunion Tour? Say it ain't so! Who comes up with this crap? I guess the guy needs something to do since he was can't play with any balls except his own for the rest of the soccer season. [Vogue UK]

John Mayer GAP Ads Look Oddly Familiar

Our gorgeous, gossip-loving sister Shana at Popnography noticed something funny about the new ad campaign for the Gap,shot by Annie Leibovitz and starring John Mayer. (When did he start looking so good?)

Being an unofficial authority on everything *NSync (I'm not kidding), she recognized the startling similarity between Mayer's sweater vest ($39.50) and jeans outfit and Justin Timberlake's sleeveless t-shirt and jeans look in the video for "Gone," (directed by famed photog Herb Ritts, says Shana) which is sort of like the prequel to "Cry Me a River."

See the proof after the jump!

Talking Trash with Marc; Uniqlo gets Chummy; Terry Richardson snaps Cavalli; Armani Denies Going Mobile

Is Marc Jacobs jealous of Dior's John Galliano? The NY Post reports that Jacobs constantly spouts the trash talk while working out at David Barton gym in Manhattan. [Page Six]

Uniqlo, Japan's answer to the Gap, tapped British designers Gareth Pugh, Kim Jones, and Carri Mundane, who designs under the label Cassette Playa, to create a line of limited edition t-shirts that will hit Uniqlo stores worldwide on Nov. 1. [DNR]

Terry Richardson (pictured), the mustachioed photographer who is known for stripping naked during his shoots, has been tapped to snap Roberto Cavalli's affordable H&M ad campaign. From the list of models cast for the shoot—it girls Jessica Stam, Lydia Hearst and Devon Aoki—it sounds like Cavalli blew the budget and couldn't hire equally attractive men to model the menswear. His solution? Get in front of the camera and pinch a few pennies. [Page Six]

Giorgio Armani denies reports that he is in talks with Samsung to develop an Armani-branded phone even though a Samsung rep spilled the beans to a South Korean newspaper. Whoops! [Fashion Week Daily]

Gay Photography from China

Well, PingMag doesn't call it that. But their feature on new photography from China includes some startling/raunchy/scuzzy pics, some of which have a distinctly gay subtext - including one called "I Fuck Me".

If you want to see more, and can handle a lot of question marks (that's what happens when western laptops take on Chinese characters), check out photoblogchina.com.
